How to Get a Receipt From Amazon (Order History, Invoices and More)
Need an Amazon receipt for taxes, a return, or an expense report? Here is how to find, print, and email an invoice from Your Orders on the website or app, plus gift receipts and digital purchases.
Method 1: Find your receipt in Your Orders (fastest)
Nearly every Amazon receipt lives in the same place: Your Orders. This works on the website and in the app, and it covers physical items, digital purchases, and most subscriptions.
- Sign in to amazon.com or open the Amazon app.
- Go to Your Orders (under Account on the site, or the menu in the app).
- Find the order by scrolling, searching the item name, or filtering by year.
- Select Invoice or Order Details, then View or Print this invoice.
The invoice is the itemized receipt you actually want: it lists every item, the tax, shipping, and the order total. The order confirmation email Amazon sends is handy, but it is usually a summary, so reach for the invoice when something official is on the line.
Tip: On a computer, opening the invoice and choosing Print lets you "Save as PDF" instead of printing paper. That PDF is perfect for an expense report or your tax folder.
Method 2: Print an Amazon invoice for taxes or expenses
If you need a clean copy for accounting, the printable invoice is the gold standard.
- Open Your Orders and find the order.
- Choose Invoice, then View or Print this invoice (sometimes labeled Printable Order Summary).
- Print it or save it as a PDF.
For business purchases, the invoice shows the billing details and tax you need to support a tax write-off or expense claim. If you bought through an Amazon Business account, you usually get extra options like downloadable invoices and order reports under Business Analytics or the Reports area, which is built for exactly this.
Method 3: Gift receipts and digital orders
Amazon handles a few special cases a little differently, but they all start from Your Orders.
- Gift receipts: If you sent a gift, open the order and look for the gift receipt or packing slip option. If you received one, the gift receipt that came in the box (or the gift link) lets you return or exchange without seeing the price.
- Digital purchases: Kindle books, apps, music, and video show under Your Orders, and often under Digital Content or Memberships and Subscriptions. Amazon also emails a receipt for most digital buys.
- Subscriptions and Prime: Recurring charges like Prime or Subscribe and Save appear in your order history and under Memberships and Subscriptions, where you can view past charges.
Business vs personal Amazon accounts
This trips people up constantly. If you have both a personal account and an Amazon Business account tied to similar emails, an order will only show in the account that placed it. If you cannot find a receipt, sign out and sign back in with the other account before assuming it is gone. Business accounts also let admins pull consolidated invoices and spending reports, which is the easiest path if you are reconciling many orders at once.
Amazon receipt not working? Try this
- No invoice button? Some third-party Marketplace sellers issue their own invoice. Open the order, then look for a request invoice option or contact the seller through Your Orders.
- Cannot find the order? Make sure you are signed into the right account (personal vs business) and clear any year filter that is hiding it.
- Confirmation email only? That is a summary. Go to Your Orders for the full itemized invoice.
- Returned or canceled item? The invoice still shows in your history, often with the refund noted, so you can still print proof of the original purchase.
The faster way: let Mylo grab every receipt automatically
Digging through Your Orders one invoice at a time is fine for a single purchase, but painful at tax time. Mylo does it for you: it scans your email inboxes and signs into the retailer accounts where receipts hide, pulls the itemized Amazon invoice, and matches each one to the card transaction that paid for it. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Costco, Apple and more, all in one place.
No new card and no manual entry. Mylo works on top of the Visa, Mastercard, or Amex you already use, then syncs clean, categorized expenses to QuickBooks. Free on iOS, Android, and the web.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Amazon order confirmation email a real receipt?
It works as proof of purchase, but it is usually a summary, not a full itemized receipt. For returns, warranties, or expense reports, open Your Orders and print the Invoice instead, which lists each item, tax, shipping, and the total.
How do I get a receipt for an Amazon order without an account?
If you checked out as a guest or received a gift, check the confirmation email Amazon sent. Gift recipients can request a gift receipt from the order page. Otherwise you usually need to sign in to the account that placed the order to reach the invoice.
How long does Amazon keep my order history?
In most cases Amazon keeps your orders in Your Orders for years, and you can filter by year to find older invoices. For your own tax records, the IRS suggests keeping receipts for at least three years.
Where are receipts for Kindle books, apps, and other digital purchases?
Digital orders show under Your Orders too, and you can also check Digital Content or the Memberships and Subscriptions area of your account. Amazon emails a receipt for most digital purchases as well.
